ECS Systems is proud to welcome Ryan Pacey to the team! With over 20 years of experience in the security industry and a diverse career history, Ryan brings a wealth of knowledge and a passion for delivering exceptional service. Here, he shares insights into his role, his career journey, and what makes ECS a fantastic place to work.
What’s your role at ECS?
Account Manager.
What’s your career history – and how does it feed into what you’re doing now?
I first entered the security industry over 20 years ago, starting at ADT. Once I had gained significant knowledge and expertise, I ran my own successful company for 10 years. During that time, I handled everything from surveying, installing, and servicing systems to accounting and other responsibilities associated with running a business.
After moving on from my company, I stayed in the industry, working for a local firm for six years before joining ECS.
What do you like the most about your role?
I enjoy meeting both new and existing clients, offering the best options and advice on products and security needs across all disciplines.
What are the challenges?
With over two decades in the industry, the biggest challenge is keeping up with how rapidly technology evolves. The days of standalone systems are behind us—now, clients want their security systems to be fully integrated.
What’s your proudest achievement so far at ECS?
Being part of such a great team and settling in so quickly has been a proud achievement—it feels like I’ve been here for years, which is always a good sign. Another highlight has been keeping up with my younger colleagues during ECS Football Team matches!
What do you enjoy the most about working at ECS?
The people and the working environment. When you have both, it strengthens the team across all departments.
What’s one thing you wish potential customers knew about ECS?
The wide range of disciplines we provide and the expert advice we offer. We can supply, fit, and maintain everything from small standalone systems to high-end, fully integrated solutions.
What changes have you seen since you began working at ECS?
In the short time I’ve been here, I’ve noticed how flexible and adaptable the business is to client needs. For example, we recently switched monitoring companies to enhance the service we provide, with even more improvements coming in the new year.
What do you think the future looks like for the security and fire safety industries?
The future lies in integration. More clients are looking for systems that combine intruder alarms, CCTV, access control, and fire safety into a single, seamless system, making operations more efficient.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I’ve always been active and competitive. Football has been a lifelong passion, and I’ve recently taken up running. I’ve even signed up for the London Marathon and The Great North Half Marathon in 2025.
What’s one thing that people might be surprised to learn about you?
I love carp fishing. It’s a hobby that has taken me all over the UK and Europe, enjoying the challenge of catching them.
